Jika anda kentut di situ boleh kedengaran seluruh masjid. Waktu kami pergi ada beberapa gadis Parsi menyanyi di situ.

Antara rahsia Masjid Imam (nama selepas revolusi) dapat dibina dalam masa yang singkat ialah jubin haft-rangi (adakah perkataan ranggi datang dari sini?) atau tujuh warna. Orang Parsi berjaya merevolusikan pembuatan jubin dengan teknik baru yang lebih cepat dan murah. Warna-warna yang terhasil ialah biru Parsi (tua), biru Turki (muda), putih, hitam, kuning, hijau dan bisque (warna lemak ketam muda).

Sikit saja yang aku dapat tulis tentang keanggunan Masjid Imam sebab kejelitaanya memang tidak tertulis tidak terkata.

Aku tak tahu apa yang orang Yunani panggil ini tak sempat tanya. Sheikh Google pun tak mampu jawab melainkan jawapan seperti tajuk di atas. Walaupun beratus tahun di bawah Osmaniyyah langsung tak lekat Islam malah era Osmaniyyah dianggap zaman gelap dalam sejarah mereka pula. Sedih betul aku dengar.

Maka, banyaklah ditemukan kuil tepi jalan? (terjemahan google translate) seperti ini di tepian jalan. Aku perasan, selang beberapa batu bahkan kadang selang beberapa ratus ela pun akan jumpa gereja mini macam ini. Pelik juga. Menurut Rina? Tina? yang memandu kami yang melancong ia dibina bagi memperingati dan mendoakan mangsa kemalangan yang berlaku di situ. Tapi ada juga pihak yang menafikan.

Kadang ia dibina oleh orang yang terselamat dalam kemalangan demi menunjukkan syukur. Kadang ia dibina semata-mata untuk memperingati wali-wali (saints) mereka dan untuk kegunaan para musafir bersembahyang lantaran kuatnya Kristen mereka agar sepanjang perjalanan mereka ingat Tuhan.

Di sinilah untungnya kita umat Muhammad yang diberi kelebihan seluruh muka bumi itu sebagai tempat sembahyang dan bahan untuk bersuci. Tak payah susah-susah bina balaisah. Kalau berjalan, berhenti, tak ada air tepuk-tepuk debu sikit, tahu arah kiblat dan sembahyanglah seperti biasa.

Adapun, banyaklah rupa bentuk gereja halus ini. Kalau orang kaya membinanya mestilah daripada batu siap dengan cat dan berupa gereja miniatur pula seperti gambar yang atas. Kalau yang miskin membinanya sekadar daripada tin atau besi buruk sahaja seperti gambar yang bawah. Tapi isi dalamnya wajib ada sebatang lilin sentiasa menyala, sekeping gambar santo atau santa mereka dan di atasnya ada palang pula.
